Violet (Viola arvensis) is a winter annual that germinates in late summer to early autumn. Other common names include: field violet, wild pansy, field pansy, hearts-ease, and European field-pansy. Leaves are arranged alternately on stems. Flowers range in color from light yellow to yellow with purple petals.

Management:

  • A limited number of pre-emergent herbicides are effective. Apply a labeled pre-emergence herbicide in August.
